Looking at an NFL roster and predicting them to finish the season in a certain place is much easier to do when you don't really understand every a team goes through. It's very tempting to look at all of the talent the Los Angeles Chargers possess and slate them to be one of top teams in the league.

This was the same case in 2022 and fans were very excited as even though key players like Justin Herbert and Keenan Allen sustained injuries, they still made the playoffs and were in prime position to make a run. However, in a snap, everything can change and a franchise can be back at square one.

So what is different heading into 2023?

First off, the main core of LA has one more year of experience together. I'm going to go out on a limb and carry on as if Austin Ekeler will play this year with the Bolts. Even though I had some initial worries about the chemistry between him and his teammates following all the contract drama, I believe he'll want to perform to get paid and the squad will know the trade request was nothing personal.

But then when we take a look at the defensive side of things, this group will have some big shoes to fill now that Drue Tranquill dipped to the Chiefs. Newly-added Eric Kendricks will have a big responsibility but the returning Sebastian Joseph-Day will as well playing DE.

SJD also recently revealed that LA believes they are their own worst enemies at times and they hold the power to overcome any obstacles in the new season.

"I think that we can go as far as we want to go," Joseph-Day said. "At the end of the day, we proved to everyone that we can go as far as we want to go.The only people that are stopping us are us. That's why I'm very excited for this year and a lot of people are excited for this year."

The type of mentality we love to hear.
