The rumors of John johnson III signing with the Los Angeles Chargers during this year's free agency seemed like they were guaranteed to come true early last week. LA was viewed as a favorite by many following his release from the Cleveland Browns, he was interacting with and liking edits of himself in a Bolts uniform, and he was among the top safety's on the market.

However, fast forward to the second week of free agency and he has to sign anywhere, let alone with the Chargers. NFL teams are watching their spending and keeping themselves on a budget this year more than others and the 27-year-old likely hasn't signed because he hasn't seen an offer sheet that he likes.

This has left impatient Chargers fans with a lot of time on their hands which is a pretty deadly combo. It seems they've mastered the art of Twitter investigating and have brought a video Johnson III from last season back to light where he is speaking very highly of Justin Herbert (provided by WKYC-TV's Mary Kay Cahoot).

"He's got the physical traits of a great quarterback," said Johnson III. "I've said this before. You look at him behind the center, he's like 6'9 and got a big arm and he's a physical guy. But I think his coaches put him in a good position to make plays. You're not going to ask of him something he can't do but he's just going to take advantage of whatever it is. Like I said, I think his physical presence has helped him out a lot."

Johnson speaking highly of his (potential) future quarterback is a great sign. He's been keeping on his development for some time and is well-aware of how he runs the Chargers' offense.

Even though Johnson obviously plays the opposite side on defense but he is the one who watches everything on that end, similar to a quarterback. Last season with the Browns, he recorded the third most tackles in his career with 87. If he joins the Chargers, he will definitely look to reach that 100 mark again like he did in 2018 and 2020.
