As the first wave of free agency came to a close and it was clear what directions teams were going, a former All-Pro found himself among the list of players still in search of a new contract.

Following seven seasons with the Dallas Cowboys, Ezekiel Elliott and the front office agreed that it would be best to part ways and he was released. The 27-year-old is not the same version of himself that suited up for 15 games in 2018 and recorded over 1400 yards. However, he is still a very productive RB and I felt LA could look to bring him in to ease the hit they would take offensively if Austin Ekeler was out.

But that all changed when it was reported that Elliott had narrowed down his final options to three teams and LA did not make the cut.

Especially if Ekeler does remain with the Chargers for the 2023 season, it wouldn't make much sense for him to sign there. At this point in his career, he is looking to get as many carries as possible and prove he can be a plus on a winning team.

On top of that, numerous top running backs in the upcoming 2023 draft have been linked to LA such as Bijan Robinson and Kenny McIntosh so the Bolts could prefer to go in a younger direction.

But maybe Bleacher Report knows something we don't because Elliott has been named yet again as a potential last-minute signing for the Chargers.

"If Elliott is willing to expand his options, he should follow his former offensive coordinator Kellen Moore to the Los Angeles Chargers. Los Angeles has an unsettled contract situation with running back Austin Ekeler."

"Elliott could fill a void in the Chargers backfield or complement Ekeler—similar to his role alongside Tony Pollard in Dallas over the past few years."

It is all going to come down to whether or not the former pro-bowler believes he still deserves to be a main option within the offense.
