The new NFL season is getting closer and closer with each passing day. Training camp will be starting soon, and then we will get to the preseason games. It's a beautiful time for football fans as the hope for every team is there. The long offseason is almost over, and the countdown starts now.

Every NFL team has their star players, but it's the other members of the roster that can make the biggest difference. For the Los Angeles Chargers, quarterback Justin Herbert is the star of the show, and everything revolves around him. But his teammates will ultimately decide how the season will go for LA.

Chargers insider Daniel Popper of The Athletic listed the Chargers' biggest non-quarterback MVP candidate for the upcoming season. LA has plenty of players that could fit the bill, and Popper went with one of their more relied-upon members of the defense, Joey Bosa.

"Bosa suffered a torn groin in Week 3 of last season and went on to miss the Chargers’ next 12 games. It was a frustrating season that ultimately ended in embarrassing fashion. He was called for an unsportsmanlike penalty in the playoff loss in Jacksonville after spiking his helmet twice on the sideline. But there was a silver lining: The surgery Bosa underwent in late September cleaned up what he described as chronic groin issues. He will enter this season healthier than he has been in years. And the way 2022 ended should only add motivation for a player who is still one the best all-around edge rushers in football."

Per The Athletic

Bosa is looking to have a bounce-back year after missing the majority of the season last year due to injuries. He wants to show that he can still be one of the best defensive players in the league, and this is the season to do it. Expectations are sky-high for the Chargers this season, and Bosa looks to be at the center of those.

The defense will be one of the major keys for LA this year, and Bosa will be tasked with leading the charge. His explosiveness and speed off the line allow him to be a major disrupter to opposing offenses, creating havoc in the process. He sometimes forces opponents to double-team him throughout the game, allowing his teammates space to work and get their own numbers.

He will be one of the biggest x-factors for the Chargers this season, and the team likely won't be able to reach their goals without him. Bosa needs to find a way to stay healthy, and if he can do that, LA should find themselves back in the postseason once again.
