When you think about it, we're not that far away from the NFL season kicking off.

Training camps are starting to be conducted in full force, preseason games begin next month, Hard Knocks is about to head out to New York Jets training camp to follow the next chapter of the Aaron Rodgers saga, and all is right in the world.

While we don't have to wait quite as long for the actual games to begin, there's still a little time for some preseason predictions.

Along that line, new Chargers offensive coordinator Kellen Moore is set up for a big year in LA.

You may know that Kellen Moore's career arc has been somewhat non-traditional.

As a recap, he ended his short NFL playing career with the Dallas Cowboys by jumping straight into coaching. His time as the quarterbacks coach in the heart of Texas he quickly turned into four years as the Cowboys' offensive coordinator. Moore went through a rollercoaster of sorts then, as he went from one of the hotter coaching candidates on the market to being under pressure two short seasons later.

That led him to take the Chargers' offensive coordinator job, and he's in line to have a great first season out west.

In my opinion, he got unfairly blamed for the Cowboys' shortfalls. He should be one of the top OCs in the league this year with an offense that includes an MVP candidate at QB in Justin Herbert and a top RB in Austin Ekeler. This solid receiving corps includes Keenan Allen, rookie Quentin Johnson, an underrated Gerald Everett at TE, and a quality offensive line.

The 33rd Team's Ari Meirov agrees with me, as he named Moore one of his redemption candidates for this year, and he had this to say about him.

"Moore showed in Dallas he’s willing to be aggressive with his playcalling – and the biggest complaint people have had with the Chargers over the past two years is they have been the exact opposite. With an abundance of offensive weapons and Herbert’s immense talent, Moore could be the guy who unleashes what the general public has been waiting for."

With Moore's quality resume and a significant amount of talent to work with, the Chargers may have struck gold with their offensive coordinator hire ahead of a big season for head coach Brandon Staley and the entire organization.

We shall see what happens, but there are plenty of reasons for Bolts fans to be excited about what's ahead.
