The Los Angeles Chargers have been able to put together a solid group just before the summer and now we're really going to see what they're made of in the months leading up to preseason. The vibes are nothing but excited within the franchise as the rookies are starting to showcase what they'll be able to accomplish and what kind of roles they'll forge.

It's great to see plenty of veterans returning and much of the core staying intact and healthy with the likes of Justin Herbert, Keenan Allen, Austin Ekeler and more. The expectations are going to weigh heavy on the Bolts no matter what, even if experts are not slating them as a favorite to contend in 2023. They folded in the wild card round last season and will need to prove to the world that they are legit.

And it all starts on the defensive end. We all know what they can accomplish on the offensive end and with a healthy Herbert leading the way after being given plenty of WR positions, it will be electric. But in order to really compete with the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC West, their run defense will need to be picked up.

Derwin James is as best as you can get at the safety position and Eric Kendricks and Khalil Mack will hold down the defensive line.

However experts believe that LA will be able to look to their group of undrafted free agents and welcome AJ Finley to help James at the safety slot.

"Alohi Gilman, who played well in 2022, is set to start alongside Derwin James. But aside from them, the rest of the room leaves much to be desired. Last year’s third-round pick JT Woods is being counted on to make a leap after an underwhelming rookie campaign. Finley could be a solid addition to the group, as his range, instincts and ball skills in coverage are superb. He had eight interceptions at Ole Miss. Additionally, Finley is a good run defender, something the Chargers lacked on the back end of the defense last season."(Via Chargers Wire)

We'll see if the Chargers take a chance on him!
