Chargers News: Insider Worries About One Offensive Position Post Draft

In this story:
The Los Angeles Chargers were heavily reported to make a run for Michael Mayer in the 2023 NFL Draft when their 21st pick in the first round rolled around. The Athletic's Daniel Popper and numerous other insiders believed he was the safest pick and the way to go.
With Bijan Robinson and other top options already being off the board, it was questioned whether LA would even stick with their offensive priorities that were hyped up heading into the draft. The looming possibility of trading down was very real.
However, we all know exactly how things played out as LA drafted their receiver of the future in Quentin Johnson after a final season that saw him post over 1,000 yards along with six touchdowns.

However, in the rounds following, LA was able to address numerous other needs such as a returner on offense and some beefing up on both the defensive and offensive lines. The TCU presence is very strong among these new LA rookies and the future is looking bright.
ESPN's own Lindsey Thiry loves what she's seen from the Chargers thus far into the offseason but only has one big concern that she hopes doesn't end up hurting them.
"It seemed inevitable that the Chargers would draft a tight end given the perceived lack of depth at the position. However, a tight end was not among
the seven picks
made by the Bolts. "It's fair to say it was definitely a deep tight end class, but the way the board fell, the timing wasn't right for us," said coach Brandon Staley, who expressed confidence in their current group of
Gerald Everett
,
Donald Parham Jr
.,
Tre' McKitty
and
Stone Smartt
. Everett is entering the final season of a two-year contract, Parham returns after spending a significant portion of last season sidelined because of a hamstring issue and McKitty is hoping to bounce back from a lackluster year."

We will definitely see soon what other tricks their front office might have up their sleeves.
