Chargers News: Justin Herbert Leading NFL in Impressive Category After 2 Weeks

Doing his part.

Though his team hasn't helped him win a game thus far in 2023, Justin Herbert has been impressive in his first two contests of the season for the Chargers.

Playing his part in keeping the offense turnover-free against both the Dolphins and the Titans, the Bolts' QB has led the league's signal-callers in one metric that's usually linked to winning and losing football games.

Very rarely putting his team at risk of poor field position, Herbert's ball security has been a critical factor in the success of his offensive unit when it comes to racking up yards and points.

However, the issue in the past two weeks for LA comes in when those yards and points are compiled as the team failed to execute late in the game for two straight weeks.

Failing in regulation to get a field goal at home against the Dolphins down by two due to an intentional grounding penalty doomed the Chargers to a Week 1 loss to Miami after conceding over 450 yards through the air for their opponent.

Though Tennessee's offense wasn't nearly as effective, two deep balls from Ryan Tannehill led to touchdowns for the Titans at critical points in the game, forcing the Chargers to send the game to overtime.

In the extra period, the Chargers went three and out despite getting the first crack at the ball, leading their opponent to drive down the field for a game-winning field goal.

Without the services of Austin Ekeler for yet another week, it'll likely have to be another strong effort for Herbert's arm, given how Joshua Kelley struggled in his role as the lead back.

Leaning on Keenan Allen and Mike Williams for another week will be vital in securing victory in a desperation match between LA and the similarly 0-2 Minnesota Vikings this weekend.
