Once again in 2023, the AFC West is going to be a battle. The defending Super Bowl champions reside in the division and the Los Angeles Chargers want to overtake them. Then you have both the Las Vegas Raiders and Denver Broncos, who look to be better than last season.

But no matter which teams comes out on top of the division, it will make history. All four teams have won the AFC West 15 times so this season, we will see a tiebreaker.

At first glance, you have to put the Chiefs as the favorites for the division. They are the champions and have won it seven years in a row. Patrick Mahomes is still captaining the team and it's unlikely that they will have any major drop off.

However, the Chargers poise the biggest threat to the Chiefs for the crown. Los Angeles holds a roster filled with talent and a chip on their shoulder. The Chargers played Kansas City tough last season, losing by just three points in each game. If they can fix some minor mistakes, they may be able to overtake them this year.

Las Vegas should be better in year two under head coach Josh McDaniels. They have a new quarterback in Jimmy Garoppolo, who should give them some stability at the position. The Raiders still have a top tier offense and should poise some challenges for the Chargers in that department.

And finally, the Broncos. Denver can't get much worse than they were last season and with new head coach Sean Payton, it's likely that they make a jump forward. Russell Wilson leads the charge still and he should also be better. Don't sleep on the Broncos as threats in this division.

However it shakes out, the Chargers will likely be in for a fight this season. They have the talent to win but just need to go out and execute it. It's put up or shut up time in LA.
