It has been no secret that DeAndre Hopkins and the Arizona Cardinals have been looking to move on from each other for some time now. Last season was a dumpster fire them as they suffered numerous injuries and only won four games.

For some reason, they do not want to hold onto Hopkins, who had one of his best years with them and served as one of their only forms of offense. Despite injuries cutting his own time on the field, he still was a very reliable option at WR with over 700 yards posted on 64 receptions.

Hopkins himself reportedly pointed out the Los Angeles Chargers as his preference for his next landing spot but this was back when the Cardinals were looking to package him in a trade. However, things have gone a step further and a buy-out could be in the works.

This means that the former All-Pro could still get his money from the franchise and look to go elsewhere on a smaller deal. Bingo! This is where the Bolts enter the picture and retired QB/current analyst Dan Orlovsky is a big fan of LA pursuing him.

"I'll throw a flier team out there, just if you are the Los Angeles Chargers," said Orlovsky. "And you sit there and you go 'We got a really good roster' and you go into the draft and you want a receiver and they're not really there, I match DeAndre Hopkins with Mike Williams and Keenan. Now we're talking about the ability to push the ball down the field." (Via NFL On ESPN)

If Hopkins does indeed become available via a release from the Cardinals, I see no reason why they shouldn't pursue him with a smaller deal in mind. He certainly proved that he can still contribute to a team despite not being on the younger side.

It does all fall down to whether the team opts to buy him out because his contract is far too big to trade for no matter how bad he wants to play with Justin Herbert. He would serve as another great passing option however.
