Chargers News: Pundit Praises This Aspect Of LA's Coaching

In this story:
Through the first two games of the regular season, the Los Angeles Chargers have had their fair share of issues. They sit at 0-2 on the season and now are entering a must-win game in week three on the road.
It wasn’t the start that anyone had hoped for, but there is still plenty of time to turn things around. History may not be on their side, but the Bolts did lose two close games, and on the bright side their offense has looked very impressive.
For all of their faults, the Chargers have shown good instincts on the offensive side of the ball. New offensive coordinator Kellen Moore is already paying dividends, so the Bolts just need to get some other things corrected to turn it around.
“There is some good news for the Chargers: Kellen Moore’s appointment as offensive coordinator has energized the offense, and Justin Herbert is back to performing like one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL—and putting his big arm to good use.”

Moore was brought in to help maximize this offense, especially Herbert. Far too often in the past, the Chargers were too predictable with the ball, and it cost them. But through two games, Moore is showing why he was such a highly touted person in the first place.
If anything, getting Herbert to fully maximize the strong arm he has is a win. His ability to sling the ball all over the field is special, and the Chargers are now looking to take advantage of it.
“Through two games, he ranks sixth in both EPA per dropback and average depth of target after ranking 13th and 31st, respectively, in those two metrics last season, per TruMedia.”

However, with the team being 0-2, things do need to improve. If they don’t changes will be made and that likely starts with head coach Brandon Staley. It doesn’t matter how good the offense is, if they continue to lose, Staley will be gone.
He was already on the hot seat entering the year, and the start has only made things worse.
“But while getting Herbert back to producing at a high level was the easiest path to job security for Staley, it might work against him if losses continue to pile up. Joe Lombardi is no longer around to serve as a scapegoat for the team issues, and Staley has never been more vulnerable.”
Per Steven Ruiz of The Ringer
Los Angeles has a challenge ahead of them this week, as they head to Minnesota for a matchup with the Vikings. Both teams are 0-2, so we should see two teams that are desperate for their first win of the new year.
