Chargers News: Writer Concerned About Bolts' Chances Against Struggling MVP

Divisional games do just mean more!

Five weeks into the new NFL season, the Los Angeles Chargers hold a record of 2-2 and will be coming off their bye week. It hasn’t been the start that anyone had hoped for, but they are banking on the bye week to fix some issues.

The Bolts are scheduled to host the Dallas Cowboys at home next, which won’t be an easy matchup. Dallas presents different challenges for this team, but it’s the game the following week that many have their eyes on. They shouldn’t take their eyes off the Cowboys, but a game against the Kansas City Chiefs just means more for the Chargers.

Gavino Borquez of Chargers Wire looked at the Chargers upcoming games and predicted how they would fare against the defending champions. They see Los Angeles falling short once again to their AFC West rivals.

“After facing the Cowboys, it doesn’t get any easier for the Chargers. If anything, it gets a little bit more difficult facing their division rival at their place. The Patrick Mahomes-led offense is as high-powered as usual, third in the league in offensive yards per game with an average of 393.0. Mahomes has had some struggles with taking care of the football, however. He has four interceptions through four games. On the other side of the ball, Kansas City allows the fourth-lowest amount of points (15.0). This will probably come down to the wire, but I see the Chiefs squeaking out the win.”

Anytime a team has to go into Arrowhead Stadium, it can be quite daunting. The Chiefs hold one of the best home-field advantages in the entire league, and their fans make it a priority to make life tough on opposing teams.

The Chargers have played Kansas City tough in recent years, but they have rarely been able to come away with the win. Last season the two matchups came down to the last second, with the Chiefs winning both games by three points. These two teams know each other well, and it’s always a battle.

If the Chargers could get the win over Kansas City, it would go a long way toward their season. It would help with potential playoff seeding, and give them a big divisional win as well.

This Chargers team has the tools to make a long postseason run if they can ever get it together. They will need to play a complete game to take down the Chiefs, and it all starts with them coming prepared for the game.
