Chargers Insider Thinks It's Time To Shut Down Justin Herbert For The Year

In this story:
The Los Angeles Chargers lost another game this past weekend, dropping their record down to 5-8 on the season. The final score was 24-7 in favor of the rival Denver Broncos.
It was a tough game all around for this team, but to make matters worse, quarterback Justin Herbert left the game with an injury. After the fact, it was revealed that Herbert had a fractured index finger and that his timetable to return was unknown.
This got many to start speculating whether we had seen the last of Herbert this season. With the Chargers record where it is, it only makes sense.
Chargers Insider Daniel Popper believes that the team should shut down Herbert for the rest of the year.
"There is only one logical path forward for the Los Angeles Chargers. Justin Herbert should not play another snap in 2023."
Per Daniel Popper of The Athletic
It would make no sense to bring Herbert back for another game this season, especially considering where the team is in the standings. Their slim playoff hopes were dashed with the loss against Denver, so shutting Herbert down is the way to go.
"This mess of a season is over. Sure, there are four games left on the schedule. But after this loss, the Chargers are 5-8. They are in 12th place in the AFC. They are bottom-feeders. They are the embodiment of unmet expectations. They are going to miss the playoffs. It is only a matter of time before that becomes mathematically true."
Per Daniel Popper of The Athletic
This team wasted another season, and we should see some big changes coming this offseason. Head coach Brandon Staley is all but gone after another underwhelming performance.
For now, the Bolts should be seeing what they have around the roster and if anything can stick. Their season is over, and Herbert's should be as well.
