Chargers News: Derwin James Frustrated With Bolts' Defensive Struggles

In this story:
The Los Angeles Chargers dropped another one-score game this past weekend to the Detroit Lions. The final score ended at 41-38, and it was another missed opportunity for this Bolts team.
The LA offense came to play in this game, but the defense never seemed to show up. It was another frustrating effort from them when the team needed them most, and it has been a common occurrence this season.
Entering the game, the Chargers defense had been playing well, but that also could have been due to the level of competition that they were facing. Against a formidable Detroit team, the defense folded like a lawn chair.
Multiple defenders spoke after the fact of their frustrations with the performance that they set forth. Star safety Derwin James Jr. said that the team needs to look at themselves in the mirror to make sure this doesn’t happen again.
"It's frustrating as hell," James said. "Because like I say, our job, we want to go out and dominate. We want to go out and execute, and we want to go out and get off the field. So for us not to go out there and get it done, it's all a reflection, and [we] just [need to] look in the mirror."

The Chargers allowed 533 yards off offense to the Lions, in what was their worst showing of the season. The team had just gotten their season record back to .500, and now they will be playing catch-up in the standings once again.
Head coach Brandon Staley said that despite the poor performance, he still believes that his team can compete with anyone around the NFL.
"I know the players that we have on this team, I know the group that I've been coaching for nine games, and it is good enough to beat anybody we play."

Well, the Chargers weren’t good enough on Sunday, and this has become a reality felt far too often by this team. They have some soul-searching to do, otherwise, this season will be added to the long line of wasted years in the history of this franchise.
