Chargers News: LA Could Add All-Pro Linebacker Still On The Market

In this story:
Just last season, Bobby Wagner came within three tackles of setting the all-time record in a year for the Los Angeles Rams. He proved to still be very productive at the age of 32 and decided to join the reigning Super Bowl champions after being released by the Seattle Seahawks so he could help them contend for another one.
The complete opposite of that would happen though as the Rams visibly were not the same team as they were in 2021 and finished off the year with a 5-12 record. For that reason, Wagner was not interested in sticking around if a rebuild is on the way and LA also needed to clear cap space so the two parted ways.
However, despite having a great individual season and being named an All-Pro yet again in his 11-year career, he remains unsigned by an NFL franchise. Any team looking to improve their defensive line and bring in someone with experience should speak to Wagner and Arif Hasan of Pro Football Network believes he could be on his way to the city-rival Los Angeles Chargers.
BOBBY WAGNER. WOW. 😳

"The Chargers just added veteran linebacker Eric Kendricks, so they may not be in the market for another veteran," said Hasan. "But they lost Drue Tranquill to the Kansas City Chiefs and have a serious liability opposite Kendricks in Kenneth Murray. Wagner has experience with Staley-style offenses from his time with the Rams and could lead an all-star LB corps with Kendricks to support a struggling defense that has some exciting pieces in Joey Bosa and Derwin James."
I personally see why it would hurt the Chargers to bring in Wagner. He will provide toughness and leadership to a younger group that is trying to make noise in a strong division. It's already been known that Austin Ekeler was one of their vocal leaders and he very well may be traded. Therefore, Wagner could fill in there.
He is still viewed as one of the top linebackers remaining but with the market down all around, it shouldn't take too much for the front office to bring him in.
