Chargers News: LA's Best Defender Bemoans Wasted Opportunities This Season

In this story:
Your Los Angeles Chargers are sitting with a record of 5-8 on the season, and they will be playing the rest of the guys without their starting quarterback.
Star Justin Herbert will be sidelined for the rest of the year with a fractured index finger.
This has just added more disappointment in how the entire year has gone for this team. They've had ups and downs, but have underwhelmed once again.
Chargers star defensive end Khalil Mack expressed his frustrations with how the season has gone for the team this year. He knows that they have missed a ton of opportunities throughout.
“There’s a lot of disappointment just understanding what this team is capable of,” Mack said. “I don’t think everybody understands the potential and the opportunities that we’ve been given. Making the most of the opportunities, it’s been a downfall.”
Per Jeff Miller of The Los Angeles Times
It's been an incredibly tough season for this team, and it has seen them drop multiple games that they could have won. LA was supposed to be better than they have been, but once again, it's been more of the same.
“Looking back on that, [we] took L’s,” said Mack, who spent four years with the Bears and made the playoffs twice. “Right now, we’re taking L’s. It’s just up to us to keep pushing forward.”
Per Jeff Miller of The Los Angeles Times
LA isn't technically eliminated from playoff contention, so they will fight until the very end. At the very least, they can try to end the year on a high note, taking some positives into next season.
“It’s just about understanding the opportunity that we have. … I don’t feel like we’re taking full advantage of it. … It’s everybody, myself included.”

If the Chargers aren't able to turn things around, there will be big changes coming. It starts with head coach Brandon Staley, but it could be more drastic, depending on how ownership wants to play things.
