Chargers News: Unpacking Just How Dangerous Bolts' Upcoming QB Slate Looks

In this story:
No schedule in the NFL is ever easy. But there are some that are much more difficult than others, and in reality, it does come down to who the quarterbacks are.
For the Los Angeles Chargers, they have their star quarterback in Justin Herbert, but they are also set to face off against some of the best the league has to offer this season. It’s the price to pay when you are successful in the league, and the Chargers are coming off a playoff berth last season.
Unlike anything they’ve seen over the last few years, the Bolts will be tested this season. They have matchups with top-tier guys, who could pose some issues for them.
Mike Sando of The Athletic ranked quarterbacks in tiers, and the Bolts will be facing off against multiple signal-callers in his tier one.
“The Chargers came in with the fifth-toughest schedule according to the rankings, facing three of the other four quarterbacks in Tier 1 (including one of them twice).”
Per Omar Navarro of Chargers.com
The Bolts have scheduled matchups against Patrick Mahomes twice, Josh Allen, Aaron Rodgers, Lamar Jackson, Dak Prescott, Kirk Cousins, and more.
This is a good thing, however, for the Chargers because in order to be the best, you need to beat the best. They will get their chance this season to prove their worth, and it will be a strong measuring stick to see if they truly are ready to compete for a Super Bowl.
The team has all the tools to succeed this season, but they need to go out and earn it. Head coach Brandon Staley isn’t worried about the quarterback matchups, saying they need to be ready each week regardless of who is under center.
"Every NFL schedule that I've played so far is really, really tough," Staley said with a laugh. "This one will be no exception."

The Bolts have high expectations as the new season gets started here soon. They have a lot to prove, and it’s put up or shut up time in Los Angeles.
