The Los Angeles Chargers got their record back to .500 after a big win over the New York Jets this past week, but the challenges for this team remain. The offense hasn’t looked overly great, despite bringing in new offensive coordinator Kellen Moore this past offseason.

The defense has been playing lights out lately, but it remains to be seen how much longer they can keep that up. At some point, the offense is going to need to step up, but they are missing one of their better players.

Wide receiver Mike Williams' injury has affected this team in multiple ways, and the Bolts haven’t been able to replicate his production. However, the NFL staff at Bleacher Report believes that LA should look to sign a former Pro Bowl receiver in Jarvis Landry to help with the offensive issues.

“Jarvis Landry is definitely not a long-term solution. The 30-year-old's production has been on the decline for about three years, but he is still a solid blocker and has plenty of experience to help mentor younger receivers like Quentin Johnston.”

If anything, Landry would give this team some veteran leadership to help get through the year. Plus, he is still a capable player who could help space out this offense, so it doesn’t all fall on receiver Keenan Allen each week.

The Chargers could use Landry to help with their short passing game, and it could open the field up as well. They have been missing a player to spread the defense out, and having Landry could at least give them another option offensively.

“The Chargers have a long-term need at wide receiver, but they can't do much about that now that the trade deadline is over. Mike Williams and Jalen Guyton are both out for the season, while Joshua Palmer is dealing with a knee injury.”

Per NFL Staff at Bleacher Report

This is at least something to think about moving forward. LA has a need right now, and unless they improve things, they could find themselves on the outside looking in of the playoff picture.
