In this story:

The Los Angeles Chargers have a nice group of young talent on their hands now that they had a successful 2023 draft haul and with the recent rookie camp, everybody is getting a first look.

Seeing Quentin Johnston catch his first couple of passes from Justin Herbert has fans salivating over the potential of this offensive duo but everybody is also well-aware that Keenan Allen and Mike Williams will be the top WR options this season. However, there could be a deeper reason as to why the Bolts rocked with Johnston in round one.

LA has their number one goal in 2023 set to take over over the AFC West and put their name among the best teams in the NFL as legit Super Bowl contenders. The talent and experience is all there and they were poised were a nice offseason run if not for injuries and a wild card meltdown.

But what if the Bolts continue to fail to meet high expectations in the next year or two? Will Noltie of Last Word On Sports believes that at least one of their top WR's will be wearing a different jersey soon.

"The one catch of sorts is that, due to them both having upcoming large cap hits, one of these two will likely be gone in 2024. The natural assumption seems to be Allen, given that he is aging and is less of an outside threat than he once was. It could end up also being Williams, though, given that he is the less consistent of the two. Regardless of who, though, we will likely see one new member to the starting wide receiver duo – hence who they drafted in the first round."

This 2023 season will be that much more important for this reason. One of these players' futures could bank on how they perform this year so we will see what happens.
