In this story:

Your Los Angeles Chargers received unfortunate news recently, when it was revealed that star quarterback Justin Herbert would be sidelined for the remainder of the season

Herbert suffered a fractured index finger during the team's 24-7 loss against the Denver Broncos over the weekend, which ultimately required surgery.

With where they are in the standings, LA currently sits with a record of 5-8, it makes sense to shut Herbert down. The team didn't want to push him to return for meaningless games.

But the cast of veteran players who are still healthy are determined to fight until the very end. After all, the Bolts aren't officially eliminated from postseason contention, even if their chances are extremely bleak right now.

LA safety Derwin James Jr. gave his thoughts on the rest of the season.

“Keep going,” James said. “Don’t lay down. Don’t quit. Keep going. Keep fighting. The true competitor’s going to fight.”

Per Jeff Miller of The Los Angeles Times

This is a prideful unit of players that aren't just going to quit. They will give all they have until the last game of the season, or at least will try to do so.

“Whether we’re in the playoffs or not,” wide receiver Keenan Allen said, “we’re still going to try to win the next four games.”

Per Jeff Miller of The Los Angeles Times

Star defensive edge rusher Khalil Mack spoke very candidly about the mindset of the locker room despite all of the struggles that the team has seen this season.

Added Mack, “If you got guys that’s ready to pack it up, they don’t need to be in the locker room.”

Per Jeff Miller of The Los Angeles Times

The Chargers can try to finish their year on a high note, and maybe take some positives into next season. If they can grab a few games before the end, they can also play spoiler for some of the other AFC teams in the hunt.
