Charger Wide Receivers That Must Impress in Preseason Finale vs. 49ers

Who will be the pass catchers for the Chargers this season?

Your Los Angeles Chargers are set to take on the San Francisco 49ers in their preseason finale, and soon enough, the real games will start.

It's truly the best time of the year, and we are all on pins and needles to see how the Bolts perform in a crucial 2023 season. A lot of eyes will be on them, and tonight, all eyes will be on them for a different kind of reason: Who will be the receivers to fill out their wide receivers depth chart?

The Chargers have many fringe guys in that department, and we all know four locks in veteran  Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, rookie Quentin Johnston, and Joshua Palmer.

The rest, however, are huge question marks. Let's take a look at a handful of guys who must impress tonight to give themselves a shot at making the 53-man roster.

John Hightower

Hightower can do himself a favor and earn a 53-man roster tonight. He entered a team with a loaded wide receiver room, and he's been showcasing his skills during training camp. Hightower has turned the heads of many within the organization, including Keenan Allen, who said he's always thought he is capable of making plays since last season. The 27-year-old has been with the team since September 2022 on the practice squad, but with a solid in-game performance, he could find himself on the team for good by Tuesday.

Keelan Doss

Doss has bounced around from team to team since entering the league in 2019 out of UC Davis. He hasn't stayed with a team for more than one season, and his game hasn't helped him out in that department. The 27-year-old has only 11 receptions for 133 yards and zero touchdowns. Those aren't sexy stats, but he's doing quite well in the two preseason games, with six receptions for 81 yards and nine targets. He's been showing up big time, and with Jalen Guyton being a question mark, Doss could sneak in to be the sixth and final wide receiver if LA chooses to.

Terrell Bynum

The undrafted rookie is doing the best he can, considering his situation. The former USC Trojan was signed by LA shortly after the draft and was given a chance to make the roster spot. His first two preseason games haven't been worth talking about, as he's collected three catches for 52 yards, and the longest came in Sunday's match against the Saints for 39 yards. It may be a little too late for the 25-year-old, but you never know what can happen if he can show up tonight.

We'll keep a close eye on what these guys can do tonight to crack the team.
