NFL Insider Reports Good News for Chiefs in Potential L'Jarius Sneed Trade Price

According to an NFL insider, L'Jarius Sneed could bring back a larger trade haul than previously assumed.

The trade market heated up quickly for Kansas City Chiefs cornerback L'Jarius Sneed, and now the Chiefs could be in an even better position than many previously assumed.

NFL insider Dianna Russini of The Athletic detailed Sneed's trade market on Thursday's episode of The Athletic Football Show, providing a new scale for what the Chiefs could receive in a Sneed trade.

"I do think that he winds up getting traded," Russini said. "And I think the fact that we're seeing several teams already showing interest, and this is just based on the conversations I've been having over the last few days... The way these deals usually come together, the agents working with the team, it's a good collaborative effort here to try to get something done, which pretty much tells you that that's why they're willing to do this. Because they're in on it, and they're trying to get as much as they possibly can for him."

Russini went on to name several teams interested in Sneed, listing Detroit, Minnesota, Indianapolis, New England and Atlanta, the same five teams Nate Taylor of The Athletic named on Tuesday. Later, host Robert Mays asked Russini what the Chiefs would get in return for Sneed.

"I'm wondering what the eventual price tag is," Mays said. "Do you have any sense of that, like what a team would have to give up to get him?"

"A first, for sure," Russini began. "That was shared. [...] The Chiefs understand his value and they really like him as a player. [...] But they also know the value they're going to be able to get for him. So it's really just going to be the team that thinks that this is worth it at this point, and I have a feeling it's going to be a lot."

Most of Sneed's trade market projections have brought back less than a first-round pick, with much more discussion about a potential second-round pick or even a later package of picks going back to KC in a Sneed trade, making Russini's note potentially excellent news for Kansas City.

Russini's final note on Sneed's trade market: be patient, this deal could still take a while.

"This is gonna take more time than we expect," Russini said. "Like, this isn't going to happen in the next few days. A lot of stuff needs to still get worked out. So, I think this is one of those moves that we'll see probably after that rush next week of free agency signings, even perhaps that week after for this to get done."
