The Indianapolis Colts defense had its moments last season when it was tortured by injuries, but one of the most pleasant surprises was Ronnie Harrison, the former safety from the practice squad who was called up to the active roster and transitioned to linebacker.

The Colts aren't ready to let him walk, as ESPN reports that Harrison is returning to the team on a one-year deal.

"Indy keeping another of its own," Adam Schefter posted Wednesday morning on X. "LB/safety Ronnie Harrison is returning to the Colts on a one-year deal, per source."

Harrison signed with the Colts during training camp last offseason and, despite a solid summer, was added to the practice squad to start the season. Following the departure of Shaquille Leonard, Harrison was called up to the active roster on Week 12 and filled in at linebacker rather than his former position of safety.

Harrison's addition to the roster immediately paid off as he recorded an interception in his Colts debut, helping lead to a win over the visiting Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

In total, Harrison played in 7 games (3 starts) for the Colts, making 20 tackles (1 for loss), 1.0 sack, 1 QB hit, 2 interceptions, 2 pass breakups, and 1 defensive touchdown.

He did see some snaps at safety for the Colts late in the season when they were shorthanded at the position, so we'll have to see where the Colts feel he is most effective moving forward.

Originally a third-round pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars out of Alabama in the 2018 NFL Draft, Harrison has also spent time with the Cleveland Browns (2020-22) and in 74 games (48 starts) has compiled 243 tackles (10 for loss), 6.5 sacks, 6 QB hits, 2 fumbles recovered, 7 interceptions, 25 pass breakups, and 2 defensive touchdowns.
