Colts Place Rookie On IR, Sign Former Basketball Star

The Indianapolis Colts announced a handful of roster moves on Saturday.

The Indianapolis Colts continued making tweaks to their roster on Saturday as they announced that they signed free-agent tight ends Nick Eubanks and Michael Jacobson, placed rookie offensive tackle Jake Witt on Injured Reserve, and waived running back Toriano Clinton.

Jacobson (6'7", 244, 26 years old) is a former professional basketball player who played collegiately at Nebraska and Iowa State before signing a pro contract in Ukraine in the Ukrainian Basketball SuperLeague. This is Jacobson's second stint with the Colts as he signed with the Seattle Seahawks during training camp in 2021 before being released and picked up by the Colts a couple of weeks later. He was waived the following summer during training camp after spending the previous season on the Colts' practice squad.

Eubanks (6'4", 256, 26) originally came into the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Dallas Cowboys in 2021 after playing collegiately at Michigan. He has also spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles (2021), Detroit Lions (2021)m Cincinnati Bengals (2022), and Houston Texans (2022). Eubanks played in 36 career games for the Wolverines, catching 45 balls for 578 yards (12.8 avg.) and 6 touchdowns.

Witt landing on IR ends his season before it begins. He has missed the last several training camp practices with a hip injury. He was a seventh-round pick by the Colts this spring, being selected 236th overall out of Northern Michigan.

Clinton was signed by the Colts as a rookie undrafted free agent earlier this week following an arm injury to Zack Moss. He is the all-time leading rusher at the local University of Indianapolis with 4,538 yards in 43 games.
