Will Jim Irsay Receive Discipline for Calling Out NFL Officiating?

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport predicted the NFL to punish Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay for what he wrote about NFL officiating on Twitter on Tuesday night.

Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay is always going to speak his mind. On this occasion, though, it might cost him a little spending money.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport argued Irsay will face discipline from the NFL office for addressing the officiating from the Colts matchup against the Cleveland Browns in Week 7.

Two Colts defensive penalties in the final two minutes of the fourth quarter helped the Browns score the game-winning touchdown.

"Jim Irsay uses Twitter in a way most owners do not," Rapoport said on The Insiders on Wednesday. "He also really speaks directly to his fans, and this is what this felt like to me. I know it was really important to him, for instance, to announce that Anthony Richardson was having surgery.

"I know it was really important to him to get to the the middle of the meat of this fan base and say it was not right on Sunday, and I'm with you guys and I want you to know that the league has admitted it. He's going to get disciplined, I have no doubt about that."

In his tweet, Irsay revealed that the NFL told the Colts that the league didn't make the correct calls at the end of the Week 7 matchup versus Cleveland. Irsay then argued that the NFL should institute replay reviews on all calls, including penalties, in the last two minutes of every game.

Rapoport did not specify what kind of discipline Irsay could receive. More than likely, if anything, it will be a fine.

However, the NFL insider did add that he doesn't believe Irsay will care at all about the discipline.

"He's not speaking to us, he's not speaking to the NFL," Rapoport argued. "He's speaking to his fans."
