The Indianapolis Colts are looking to add some depth to their wide receiver room by putting in a claim on former New England Patriots wide receiver Kristian Wilkerson according to a report by Field Yates.

"The Colts have claimed WR Kristian Wilkerson off of waivers from the Patriots," wrote Yates on Twitter.

Wilkerson (26) originally went undrafted coming out of Southeast Missouri State in 2020. The Tennessee Titans signed him as an undrafted free agent before waiving him.

He was picked up by the Patriots in 2020 and played in four games across 2020 and 2021 including a start. He had just four catches for 42 yards in New England, but he made those four catches count with two touchdowns.

Wilkerson also saw time on special teams as he bounced up and down the Patriots practice squad in 2021. He spent 2022 on injured reserve before being waived on Wednesday.

He wasn't out of work long as the Colts claimed him off waivers a day later.

Wilkerson has good size at 6'1 and 215 pounds and had a productive collegiate career with the Redhawks. He finished his career with 3,540 yards receiving and 33 touchdowns with 1,350 yards and 10 touchdowns his final season in 2019.

The Colts are in need of more offensive weapons. Michael Pittman is a true No. 1 receiver while Alec Pierce showed flashes in 2022. Parris Campbell has been up and down in his Colts career and is now an unrestricted free agent

Wilkerson may not be the answer the Colts need at wide receiver for 2023, but he'll get a chance to make the team in the spring and summer.
