In this story:

Last year was a disappointing season for most of the Indianapolis Colts, and running back Jonathan Taylor was no exception.

Taylor entered the year as the top fantasy football player by several accounts, but injuries and an underachieving Colts team limited his production.

As Taylor goes, the Colts will go, and NFL.com's Adam Schein listed him among nine NFL stars who could benefit the most from upgrades via the NFL Draft.

Schein doesn't actually say much about Taylor, but he's all in on a new quarterback taking the pressure off the Colts' running game.

After an injury-marred 2022 season, the 2021 NFL rushing champ needs a quarterback to bring sexy back. And the Colts need a franchise QB to bring postseason football back to Indianapolis. It's been four seasons since Andrew Luck's abrupt retirement -- the franchise was understandably blindsided by that shocking development back in August of 2019, but that excuse is well past its expiration date. GM Chris Ballard needs to either solve this crippling issue or get his résumé up to date.

Now, Indianapolis just watched as the Carolina Panthers -- fronted by the Colts' old head coach, Frank Reich -- aggressively jumped into the No. 1 spot to secure their pick of this quarterbacking litter. Should've been Indy. Assuming C.J. Stroud and Bryce Young will both be gone after the first two picks of the draft, the Colts need to do whatever they can to nab Anthony Richardson. Or seriously make a move for Lamar Jackson. Can you imagine either of those dual-threat dynamos sharing a backfield with Taylor? Make it happen, Ballard! -- Adam Schein, NFL.com

Indianapolis has been eerily quiet when it comes to the free agency and the NFL Draft. The Panthers made a big splash with their trade for the No. 1 overall pick. The national media has been dragging the Atlanta Falcons for not aggressively pursuing Jackson.

Could a move be in the works for the Colts?

There's no guarantee they can get Richardson if they stay at No. 4, and there's no way to get Jackson without a blockbuster trade (and subsequent contract extension).

Will the Colts be content to sit at No. 4 and let the board fall to them on draft night, or is there a move in the works?

The NFL Draft is April 27th. The one thing we can almost be sure of, those questions will be answered by the end of the draft's first night.
