Indianapolis Colts have just One of ESPN's Top 50 Free Agents

In this story:
After a disappointing 2022 season, it's no surprise that the Indianapolis Colts don't have a list of in-demand free agents other teams are looking to poach.
According to ESPN's latest Top 50 Free Agent Rankings, the Colts have just one player among the league's best set to hit the open market.
Edge rusher Yannick Ngakoue checks in at No. 32 on the list.
Ngakoue had 9.5 sacks this season, bringing his total to 65 over eight NFL seasons. Given his subpar tape as a run defender, however, he should be targeted as a situational pass-rusher, a role in which he can use his top-end traits to win on the edge. That's burst off the ball, hand usage and the ability to bend around offensive tackles. We know NFL teams value edge rushers, and so Ngakoue will have a market, even if he tops out as a pass-rusher on nickel snaps. -- Matt Bowen, ESPN
Last week, ESPN NFL analyst Field Yates predicted Ngakoue would be back with the Colts. Despite his limitations in run support, Ngakoue has been productive and consistent at sacking the quarterback.
If he's considered a one-trick pony on defense, that's a pretty good trick to have.
It's well known the Colts are in the quarterback market as well. There are several quarterbacks on the list scheduled to be free agents, but how many of them will actually be available on March 15th?
No. 1 on the list is Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens have said they want to get a deal done, and they have the option of the franchise tag if they don't.
Trading for Jackson while the Ravens can still use the franchise tag for multiple years would take a deal similar to the Deshaun Watson trade the Houston Texans made with the Cleveland Browns last year.
Other quarterbacks on the list include No. 5 Geno Smith (Seahawks), No. 7 Tom Brady (Buccaneers), No. 10 Daniel Jones (Giants), No. 25 Jimmy Garoppolo (49ers), and No. 50 Sam Darnold (Panthers).
Of course this list doesn't include quarterbacks who could be salary cap casualties in the coming weeks like Derek Carr of the Raiders and the Colts' Matt Ryan.
Would Ryan be among the top-50 free agents?
It seems doubtful, but if Sam Darnold can make the list, it shows how hard it is to get a quarterback in free agency.
