‘I’ll Never Forget!’ WR Cites Commanders Dyami Brown in Draft Snub

After roasting Washington Commanders receiver Dyami Brown following his team’s win in 2022, Detroit Lions receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown says his NFL Draft spot remains a motivator three years later.

Sometimes things get stuck in the minds of people and they just can’t let them go, and when the Detroit Lions defeated the Washington Commanders last season we found out one player who’s still holding tight to the past.

After that win for the Lions, receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown lashed out at Commanders receiver Dyami Brown, saying, “The draft, it is what it is. Even the Commanders, they got a guy before me over there. I believe his name is Dyami Brown … I don’t know how many catches he had.”

Washington’s Brown had none, but Detroit’s St. Brown had nine of them for 116 yards and two touchdowns.

That difference in the stat box doesn’t weigh as heavily on St. Brown’s mind,  though, as does the separation in draft status - which Brown won by a full 30 picks.

“I actually still think about it,” St. Brown admitted on NFL Total Access recently. “I actually have my goals written down in my notebook … and then right below that I have the 16 receivers written down, where they went to college right below that. And so, I read that whole list three times before I go to practice every day. It’s something I’ll never forget.”

You may hear that and think St. Brown is slightly crazy, or maybe just being overly petty.

Whatever it is, the third-year receiver currently leads his draft class in receptions (196), is fourth in yards (2,073) and touchdowns (11), and is second in first down catches with 119.

Of course, Brown had nothing to do with St. Brown being underrated coming out of USC in 2021.

But if his being selected 30 picks higher is helping the Lions star earn his status as one of the best young receivers in the NFL today, then perhaps he should be grateful to the Commanders and their pick.

And Brown himself has shown flashes of his own abilities while playing behind fellow receivers Terry McLaurin, Jahan Dotson, and Curtis Samuel.

His best game thus far in the NFL came three weeks after the loss to the Lions when Brown caught two passes for 150 yards and two touchdowns.

Unfortunately, Washington also lost that game, but with his good friend and college teammate Sam Howell leading the charge as the starting quarterback Brown could be in line for more production and wins this coming season.
