Commanders Ex Owner Dan Snyder Made Personnel Decisions?

In this story:
Dan Snyder's disastrous run as owner of the Washington Commanders has finally come to a close after the sale to Josh Harris was unanimously approved on Thursday.
But even with the book shutting on his time as Washington's owner, more details that have recently came out make a messy tenure look even messier.
Former Commanders head coach Jay Gruden recently spoke out about his time in Washington on The Kevin Sheehan Show Podcast. Among the things Gruden said included that Snyder made personnel decisions in the draft and free agency despite not being involved in the process or evaluating players.
"He didn’t put in the work," Gruden said. "For him to pick a player in the draft is asinine. He didn’t put the work in. He didn’t watch the players. He didn’t go to the meetings. He didn’t go to the scouts’ meetings.”
Gruden was Washington's head coach from 2014 to 2019. In that span, the Commanders went 35-49-1 and made one playoff appearance in 2015. Gruden was fired after an 0-5 start in 2019.
After spending six seasons with Snyder, Gruden thinks Washington will be better off with Harris at the helm.
"I don’t respect the guy that doesn’t watch the film and comes in, makes the pick, and tells you who he is signing in free agency," Gruden said. "It makes no sense when we and the scouts are doing all of the film work, and all of a sudden, he comes in and makes the pick. So, I think it is going to be a very beneficial move for all of the fans and for the organization moving forward.”
Snyder making personnel decisions despite not putting in the work shouldn't surprise anyone. He seemingly found a way to get in his and the franchise's way at each and every turn.
Now, with Snyder in the rear-view mirror, the Commanders may finally be able to move in the right direction on and off the field.
