'Hate It!' Jerry Jones on Dak Prescott $100 Million Sexual Assault Lawsuit

FRISCO - This is a tumultous time for both Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and his QB Dak Prescott, with Jones now opening up on Tuesday regarding allegations by a woman that Prescott sexually assaulted her in the parking lot of a Dallas strip club in 2017 - and Prescott's $100 million defamation lawsuit.

“We are very knowledgeable of it,” Jones said. “Of anybody, I can say you work through the legal aspects of it. So, very aware of it. Not uncomfortable with it in any way. Hate it that the issue has to have any negative aspect to it all for everybody concerned. I can say that we’re just very aware of the details and very comfortable.”

Law enforcement officials and the courts are examinating both the claim of sexual assault and the claim of extortion involving the Cowboys star quarterback. Prescott filed a lawsuit claiming this is an "extortion plot'' by the woman. Prescott attorney Levi McCathern has told CowboysSI.com that the encounter between the QB and the alleged assault victim was consensual and that the two remained in friendly contact for years following the night in question.

The NFL hasn’t issued a statement but obviously could assign punishment to the player via the CBA.

“Mr. Prescott - a new father to a baby girl - has great empathy for survivors of sexual assault. He fervently believes that all perpetrators of such crimes should be punished to the fullest extent of the law,” wrote McCathern, Precott’s lawyer, in a statement. “To be clear, Mr. Prescott has never engaged in any nonconsensual, sexual conduct with anyone.”

As it happens, Prescott is also in the news because he has one more year on his contract with Dallas and both parties have apparently agreed to let the season play out, meaning he’ll become a free agent next offseason. There is, by the way, no reason to create conspiracies here ... especially if you understand one simple fact: McCathern, who reps Prescott, also reps Jerry Jones in his legal entanglements.

The Cowboys/Prescott's football decision, controversial as it is, is separate from Prescott's dealings with the courts.
