'Everybody Knows' Cowboys Will Hire Belichick, Fire McCarthy, Claims Patriots Ex with Dumb Rumor

New England Patriots Ex QB Starts Dumb Rumor: Dallas Cowboys to Hire Coach Bill Belichick to Replace Mike McCarthy

FRISCO - Who's doing a crummier job with the New England Patriots this year: Likely lame-duck coach Bill Belichick? Or the Boston media people who apparently worship him so blindly that they cannot see the realities in front of them?

Against every single bit of logic and every single bit of intel that we have from inside The Star here in Frisco, Texas, "Patriots people'' are continuing to push the idea that their hero Belichick is going to triumphantly escape New England to join "America's Team.''

Which sycophant is trumping up this baloney this time around? It's Scott Zolak, who is - yes, a former Patriots QB who played for the iconic but failing coach - claiming to be "hearing'' that the Cowboys are the favorite to land the six-time Super Bowl champion coach.

Bill-Belichick-and-Jerry-Jones

Listen to the gibberish being peddled by Zolak here: He's claiming that “everybody” he has talked with "assumes'' Belichick will be Jerry Jones’ next head coach.

“I’m just saying, well, everybody assumes it,'' Zolak said on 98.5 The Sports Hub’s “Zolak & Bertrand.” "Everybody I talk to assumes it.''

We will frankly invite Scott Zolak to talk to ... Jones? The Cowboys? Incumbent coach Mike McCarthy? Any plugged-in media person in DFW?

Anybody in that group (yes, including us!) would be happy to explain to Zolak and any other Belichick worshippers that the present plan with McCarthy, who has one more year on his contract, is to extend him.

Why? Because, Jones said, indicating that very plan, McCarthy's work has been "outstanding.''

"He’s coached three playoff teams in a row,” Jones said of McCarthy, as Dallas is this year again playoff-bound. “He’s done an outstanding job.”

Zolak is apparently ignorant to all of this because he's stuck "talking to everybody.''

As always, we are obliged to point out that this is a "never-say-never'' business. Maybe Dallas takes a disastrous turn in the coming weeks. Hey, maybe Belichick and Pats owner Robert Kraft kiss and make up! Who knows?

Oddly, Zolak himself added during his show, “I don’t know nothing. Nothing would really shock me. If he comes back, that wouldn’t shock me.''

Oh.

Zolak labored to find another nugget of support for what "everybody knows,'' harkening back to when the Patriots lost at the Cowboys earlier this year. And what did he come up with? He noted that before kickoff that day at AT&T Stadium, "Bill ... went right over in pregame and shook the hands of Jerry Jones and Stephen Jones.”

Oh.
