Florio: 'Russell Wilson Has Eye On Cowboys'
FRISCO - The preposterous notions fueling many of the NFL Rumor Mill items - not to mention the sheer volume of them, especially as they regard the Dallas Cowboys - prevents us from researching the ideas, let alone writing about them.
But when a media person attaches his name to such a rumor? OK. We'll allow him some elbow room.
Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio is advancing the possibility that Dallas acquires the superstar quarterback in a blockbuster trade.

“Throughout this period of time where I’ve been aware that things aren’t 100% great for Wilson and the Seahawks, the one team that keeps coming up when I’ve tried to gather information about where he could go or where he’d like to go, the Cowboys are the one team that’s been mentioned more than any other,” Florio said Friday on 105.3 The Fan.
Respectfully, as we've noted before: We find this curious simply because we have absolutely never heard anything like this - never about Wilson's unhappiness, until now, and never, ever about a Wilson connection to the Cowboys.
But, Florio insists, “I suspect that Russell has an eye on Dallas.”
We "suspect'' that the eight-time Pro Bowler, who was sacked 47 times last season, doesn't want to get hit so much, and wants a voice in helping the Seattle front office make that happen.
“Part of it, like any player, you never want to get hit, that’s the reality of playing this position, ask any quarterback who wants to play this game. At the same time, it’s part of the job,” he said, via NFL.com.
“I’m frustrated with getting hit too much.”
We have illustrated previously the prohibitive costs, for both teams, of trading Dak Prescott for Wilson, which is what Florio is proposing.
Florio notes that Dak holds a great deal of power in all of this, predicting that, "We’ll be in the same spot: franchise tag tendered (and) Dak Prescott doesn’t do a long-term deal. If I were him, I would sign that tender the moment it’s offered. That would shut down any possibility of Russell Wilson being traded to the Cowboys, being the Seahawks aren’t going to take Dak Prescott on a one-year deal and $37 million-plus in return.”
But ... Doesn't that mean Florio is predicting Dak is staying in Dallas? And if so ... what the heck are we even talking about Wilson for?

The concept of Wilson in Dallas gained momentum on Wednesday when a Vegas sportsbook gave the Cowboys the second-best odds of acquiring him ... maybe largely because Florio says he's spend "two years'' to "gather information'' on where Russell Wilson wants to play. And so ... elbow room.
