Coming off a bye, it seemed like the Buffalo defense was primed for a big day against the Miami Dolphins.

Miami, averaging just 10 points per game, was coming off of a rough performance against Washington that saw starting quarterback Josh Rosen be benched in the second half.

Sunday's game didn't necessarily go as planned. Not only did Miami score its season-high in points, but the 21 points was the most Buffalo has allowed this season.

Miami actually looked impressive for roughly three quarters, but the wheels fell of late. The Dolphins are planning for the future, but it is good to see players make a case that they belong in the team's future plans.

Players are starting to get comfortable in Chad O'Shea's offense and it seems like the coaching staff is starting to find its own rhythm as the team is improving every week.

"I think we’re just coming together as a team a little bit," Ryan Fitzpatrick said after the game. "We’re starting to get to know each other and I think it’s starting to show on the field. We’re having better practices – more crisp – and we’ve got a lot of young guys out there, but that first half was fun. There was great energy in the stadium, great energy on our sideline and we just have to continue to do that and put a whole game together.”

With the Dolphins showing some fight in back-to-back weeks, the season is much more bearable for fans wanting to fast forward to the 2020 offseason.

Keep in mind, head coach Brian Flores is still determined to start pilling up wins in 2019.

"I think this teams got to learn how to win," Flores said after the loss at Buffalo. "There’s a discipline of winning. Got to have execution in those critical moments and we got to learn how to do that. We did not do a good enough job of that today. I got to coach it better and we got to get better, because it’s there for us.”

The Dolphins have another tough matchup on the horizon as they travel to Pittsburgh to face the Steelers on Monday night football next week.
