In this story:

We're still four months away from the start of the NFL regular and nine months before Super Bowl LVIII is played in Las Vegas, but it's never too early to dream, right?

So let's envision for a second the Miami Dolphins finding themselves making their first Super Bowl appearance since the 1984 season and ending a 39-year drought.

It's a nice though, indeed, but who would the Miami Dolphins be facing in this dream scenario?

Well, if we go by the good folks at BetOnline (www.betonline.ag), the most likely opponents would be the defending NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles based on their freshly released odds for most likely Super Bowl LVIII matchup.

That Dolphins-Eagles matchup is tied for seventh-most likely based on the odds of 37/1, the same odds as 49ers-Bengals and Eagles-Jets.

The second-most likely Super Bowl opponent for Miami, based on these odds, is San Francisco at 45/1.

THE MOST LIKELY MATCHUPS AROUND THE NFL

Not surprisingly, the better favorite as Super Bowl LVIII matchup is Philadelphia-Kansas City at 19/1, and that obviously would be a rematch of SB LVII.

The Chiefs, who have been in the Super Bowl three times in the past four years, are involved in four of the top 13 betting favorites as the AFC representatives. Interestingly, the Dolphins are one of four teams involved in the other nine, along with the Buffalo Bills, New York Jets and Cincinnati Bengals.

In the NFC, the Eagles or 49ers are involved in the top six matchups based on the BetOnline odds.

The three most unlikely matchups, according to these odds, are Arizona-Indianapolis at 3875/1, Arizona-Houston at 4250/1 and Arizona-Tennessee at 5000/1.
