The Miami Dolphins' 2023 rookie minicamp will take place May 12-14, the NFL announced Thursday.

NFL teams could choose this weekend or next for the annual gathering of their draft picks, rookie free agents or others who will be invited on a tryout basis.

The rookie minicamp is one part of the offseason program that for the Dolphins also includes six OTAs (tied for league low in the NFL) and the mandatory minicamp June 6-8.

The Dolphins' six OTAs will be May 22-23, May 25, May 30-31 and June 2.

THE PLAYERS WHO WILL ATTEND THE DOLPHINS ROOKIE MINICAMP

For the second consecutive year, the Dolphins had only four draft picks, in this case cornerback Cam Smith, running back Devon Achane, tight end Elijah Higgins and offensive lineman Ryan Hayes.

While the Dolphins typically don't announce their rookie free agent class until the eve or the day of the rookie minicamp, multiple reports have indicated this is what the group will look like this year:

DE Mitchell Agude, Miami

QB James Blackmon, Arkansas State

CB Ethan Bonner, Stanford

RB Chris Brooks, BYU

DL Randy Charlton, Mississippi State

WR Chris Coleman, Cal Poly

WR Daewood Davis, Western Kentucky

TE Julian Hill, Campbell

OT Jarrett Horst, Michigan State

OT Alex Jensen, South Dakota

LB Aubrey Miller, Jackson State

DL Anthony Montalvo, UCF

EDGE Garrett Nelson, Nebraska

DL Brandon Pili, USC

OL DJ Scaife, Miami

CB Keidron Smith, Kentucky

OT James Tunstall, Cincinnati

P Michael Turk, Oklahoma

IOL Alama Uluave, San Diego State

LB Zeke Vandenberg, Illinois State

S Bennett Williams, Oregon

Additionally, the following players will be getting tryouts at the rookie minicamp, per media reports:

OL Eric Abojei, Wyoming

RB Aidan Borguet, Harvard (also will try out at the Chiefs rookie minicamp this weekend, per Ryan Fowler of The Draft Network)

CB Datrone Young, Duke

QB Henry Colombi, Marshall

And then there are two XFL players who got tryout invitations, defensive end Freedom Akinmoladun from St. Louis and guard Jack Snyder from Houston, who also got an invitation from the Baltimore Ravens.

THE MOST NOTEWORTHY UDFAs

When looking at rookie free agents, it's always interesting to see the amount of guaranteed money involved in the signings.

It should not, however, be viewed as an indicator of which players will make the 53-man roster because it was tackle Kellen Diesch who got that distinction with $140,000 guaranteed, per Football Outsiders, but failed to stick around.

Cornerback Kader Kohou, who was the biggest success story among Dolphins UDFAs in 2022, got $40,000 fully guaranteed last year.

Among the big payouts this year, Pili got $100,000 guaranteed and Bonner got $80,000.

Pili has a prior connection to the Dolphins because his new defensive line coach Austin Clark was with him at USC in 2017 when Clark coached the linebackers in addition to the D-linemen.

“He told me he’d really love to have me over there,” Pili told the Alaska Sports Report of Clark. “He said they would try to draft me with the sixth- or seventh-round pick, but I guess the team ended up going in a different direction.

“He knew what type of player I am, what kind of person I am too, so he told me he’s willing to take a chance and give me a shot."

As it relates to the combine, Turk is the only member of the UDFA class who was invited to participate in the annual event in Indianapolis.
