Eagles WATCH: Best Sights & Sounds from DeVonta Smith Softball Charity Event

Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert got things started at DeVonta Smith's second-annual celebrity softball event, as Team Smith beat Team Jahan Dotson to win the game.
In this story:

There wasn’t the same drama as last year’s inaugural DeVonta Smith and Friends Celebrity softball game, when quarterback Jalen Hurts hit a walk-off two-run home run to deliver Team Smith a 13-12 win over Team Micah Parsons.

The second-annual game was a Team Smith blowout, a 14-5 win over Team Jahan Dotson. Still, there was plenty of excitement during the event at Coca-Cola Stadium in Allentown on Saturday.

The stadium is home to the Philadelphia Phillies' Class AAA affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs.

It started with the home run derby, an event won by Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert. Perhaps the bigger surprise was that Jake Elliott didn’t win.

The kicker is such a good athlete, he usually wins most games played between teammates, including golf and ping pong.

Goedert and Elliott battled and hit the same number of home runs in both the first and second rounds, but it wasn’t until the final round that Goedert separated himself.

In the first round, Goedert, Elliott, Brandon Marshall, Mack Wilson, and Terrell Owens each hit five.

In Round 2, Goedert, Elliott, and Wilson each had three.

Goedert hit eight in Round 3 to Elliott’s four and Wilson’s one.

One of the highlights for Dotson’s team was the two home runs hit by Miami Dolphins receiver Jaylen Waddle, a former teammate of Smith’s at the University of Alabama.

Waddle will be in Philadelphia later this year when he and the Dolphins visit Lincoln Financial Field on Oct. 22 in the NFL’s Sunday Night Football primetime game.

Team Dotson also had receiver Chad Ochocino on the roster.

Prior to the game, Ochocinco told reporters he loves the Eagles’ fan base to the point where, he said, “I wish I could’ve played here.”

Owens played on the winning team, which also had Hurts.

The former receiver played one year in Philadelphia and helped the Eagles get to the Super Bowl in the 2004 season. His relationship with then-quarterback Donovan McNabb was rocky to say the least.

Not so with Hurts.

Owens and Hurts have trained together and T.O. has spoken highly of Hurts whenever asked.

He said a couple of years ago that Hurts was “poised” and “destined” to be successful with the Eagles.

“He is always going to put them in contention," T.O. said.

Owens earned Most Valuable Player. He hit a two-run home run and narrowly missed a second homer.

Proceeds from the event went to St. Luke's Hospital and Lehigh Valley Iron Pig Charities.
