Eagles on the Edge: Haason Reddick - Tier 1 Ranking by PFF?

While the Philadelphia Eagles have three edge defenders ranked in the top 32 according to Pro Football Focus, Haason Reddick misses the cut as a Tier 1 player this year.

The Philadelphia Eagles defense racked up 70 sacks in the 2022 regular season and had four players hit double-digits in the stat box as part of it.

Leading the group with 16 of his own was Eagles outside linebacker Haason Reddick, who ranked at the top of Tier 2 in Pro Football Focus’ edge rankings, missing the top tier by just one spot.

“Reddick’s 2022 season was a career year,” says PFF. “Notching 16 sacks (his third straight season breaking double digits) with a 16.8% pass rush win rate.”

His career high sack rate and win percentage got him the No. 7 overall spot on PFF’s list of 32 while Los Angeles Chargers defensive end Joey Bosa came in No. 6 at the bottom of the first tier.

Fortunately for Philadelphia, however, they have two more players in the top 32 starting with defensive end Josh Sweat at No. 28.

“Sweat earned a 79.5 run defense grade and an 80.9 pass rush grade,” says PFF. “But his pass rush win percentage (hovering around 13.0%) needs to improve for him to jump higher.”

Joining his teammates as the 30th-ranked edge defender this offseason is defensive end Brandon Graham.

“Graham, at 34 years old, showed few signs of aging,” PFF said. “Recording career highs in sacks (13.5) and pass rush win percentage (20.7%).

The only Eagles defender that notched double-digit sacks last season and didn’t land on this list is defensive tackle Javon Hargrave.

Obviously, as an interior defensive lineman Hargrave wouldn’t qualify for this list, and since he’s since left Philadelphia for the San Francisco 49ers he also won’t represent this team on that group ranking.

But you can bet Hargrave will be on the list of top defensive tackles, and whether he’s here or not, it’s just one more reminder of how good the Eagles were last season. … with plans for the existing roster weapons to do it all again.
