2024 NFL Draft: UNC's Devontez Walker Set to Visit With Jaguars

The UNC wide receiver could be an option for the Jaguars sometime on Day 2 or Day 3 of the NFL Draft.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have been a common target for wide receivers in mock drafts, a natural answer to the loss of Calvin Ridley in free agency.

It remains to be seen how, or if, the Jaguars plan to replace Ridley. They could roll with their current trio of starters in free agent addition Gabe Davis, Christian Kirk, and Zay Jones. Or they could turn to next month's NFL draft.

If the Jaguars don't opt to add a wide receiver at No. 17, or if they decide not to trade up for a sliding Marvin Harrison Jr., Rome Odunze, or Malik Nabers, then they could look to Days 2 and 3 for receiver help.

And if the Jaguars do look outside the first round for a receiver one natural option could be UNC's Devontez Walker.

According to SportsKeeda's Tony Pauline, the Jaguars have shown pre-draft interest in Walker, who caught 41 passes for 699 yards and seven touchdowns in 2023. Per Pauline, the Jaguars met with Walker ahead of his pro day and have also scheduled a top-30 visit with him.

The Jaguars have only drafted two wide receivers during general manager Trent Baalke's three drafts with the team: 2021 sixth-rounder Jalen Camp and 2023 sixth-rounder Parker Washington. It seems to figure that this could change this year, though the Jaguars' current wide receiver room, Evan Engram, and names like Devin Duvernay, Washington, and Elijah Cooks could all play factors as well.

Regardless, Walker seems to be a name to track for the Jaguars in advance of next month's draft.
