Young is the third defensive lineman the Jaguars have included in their top-30 visits. Overall, the Jaguars have had eight edge defenders and three defensive linemen in on visits so far, showing a serious emphasis on the defensive trenches. The rest of the Jaguars' front-seven visits include:
- EDGE Byron Young, Tennessee
- EDGE Colby Wooden, Auburn
- EDGE Derick Hall, Auburn
- EDGE Keion White, Georgia Tech
- EDGE Myles Murphy, Clemson
- EDGE Nolan Smith, Georgia
- EDGE YaYa Diaby, Louisville
- EDGE Tyree Wilson, Texas Tech
- DL Tyler Lacy, Oklahoma State
- DL Scott Matlock, Boise State
A four-star recruit and the No. 8 defensive tackle in the 2-10 class, Young projects as a versatile defensive lineman who lines up at defensive end in a 3-4 and inside in nickel looks.
Young appeared in 13 games as a freshman, starting five and recording 23 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, one sack, and one pass deflection.
In 2020, Young appeared in 13 games, starting one and recording 29 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss and one sack.
Young became a more consistent starter in 2021, appearing in 15 games and starting seven. He recorded 39 tackles, nine tackles for loss, and two sacks in the process.
Young's top season came in 2022, with Young starting all 13 games and recording 47 tackles, five tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, one forced fumble, and two pass deflections while being named a Second-Team All-American.
