Report: UAB RB DeWayne McBride To Take a Top-30 Visit With Jaguars

The Jacksonville Jaguars are seemingly dipping their toes in the running back waters during this year's draft cycle.
After it was reported earlier this week that the Jaguars would host Tulane running back Tyjae Spears on a top-30 visit, another running back has popped up on the radar. According to Matt Zenitz of On3Sports, the Jaguars have a top-30 visit also scheduled with UAB running back DeWayne McBride.
In addition to the Jaguars, McBride will take visits with the New Orleans Saints, Baltimore Ravens, and Minnesota Vikings.

While the Jaguars will be returning three running backs from the 2022 season in 1,000-yard rusher Travis Etienne, JaMycal Hasty, and 2022 fifth-round pick Snoop Conner, there is some obvious interest inside the walls of TIAA Bank Field for even more reinforcements. Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson described earlier this month what exactly he would look for in the position.
"I think in today’s game you’ve got to have two to three guys. They’ve got to be able to carry the load. You’re talking about a 18-week, 17-game schedule and the postseason. It’s wear and tear on guys," Pederson said at the NFL Scouting Combine earlier this month.
"We haven’t seen enough of Snoop Conner yet either, but we like him. We know what JaMycal (Hasty) can do. We obviously know what TJ, Etienne, can do. You’re always looking to have two, three, four guys that can work the rotation at any given time. The last thing I’ll say is I like him to play special teams as well, so that’s a big part of the, I think the impact of a running back is being able to play special teams."
A Doak Walker Award Semifinalist in 2022, McBride finished the regular season as the nation’s leading rusher (1,713) and also led the nation in rushing yards per game (155.7) and yards per carry (7.35), while being second in the nation in rushing touchdowns (19).
