Aaron Rodgers Subtly Hints at Staying Beyond 2023

Does the four-time NFL MVP intend to play more than one year with Jets?

The New York Jets may have more than one shot at a title with Aaron Rodgers as the quarterback.

While addressing reporters during a 17-minute post-practice press conference Thursday, Rodgers dropped a subtle hint at his post-2023 plans while complimenting the team's stockpile of young talent.

"When you have so many great players on rookie deals, it’s pretty exciting," said the savvy veteran. "Knowing you can do something, you have a good window. It’s not just a one-year thing where you can be competitive, which is fun."

Explaining how highly he enjoys showing up at his new place of employment, Rodgers sounded like someone who wouldn't mind sticking around for awhile.

"I love being around the young energy, that excitement. There is a great feel to this team," said Rodgers.

The comments carry meaning coming from Rodgers, who has been known to speak with a purpose.

"The one thing for me is just how thoughtful he is," said head coach Robert Saleh following the first preseason practice. "Thoughtful with his words, very mindful, and he’s very observant, he’s watching everything," said head coach Robert Saleh.

After spending the first 18 years of his NFL career with the Green Bay Packers, Rodgers continues to enjoy the honeymoon stage his new team.

"There is a lot of fun things that have come along with this time in my life and I’m just enjoying every moment," said Gang Green's 39-year-old field general.

Rodgers is only one full year removed from back-to-back MVP seasons and his numbers didn't exactly fall off a cliff in 2022 when he passed for 26 touchdowns to 12 interceptions.

It's also relevant to note that the 19th-year pro, who was drafted No. 24 overall in 2005, didn't incur any wear and tear during his first three NFL seasons as he was relegated to backup duties behind Brett Favre.
