Having received a lucrative four-year contract extension last week, Quinnen Williams was all smiles on training camp report day.

The New York Jets' defensive centerpiece spoke at the podium at the Atlantic Health Training Center on July 19.

"Feels good to be back with my brothers, feels good to be back with the team. A rush of emotions," said Williams as Gang Green kicks off the NFL Preseason.

There's a high level of optimism surrounding Williams's fifth professional campaign with the Jets, especially since all key pieces from the NFL's fourth-ranked defense have returned in 2023.

"Can't wait to start this journey, this year. Get to the level that we think we can get to," said the 25-year-old Williams.

As a unit, the Jets allowed the fourth-fewest yards and points over the course of the 2022 NFL regular season. As an individual, Williams was a disruptive force at the defensive tackle spot. He set career highs in sacks (12.0) and quarterback hits (28).

Coming off an All-Pro selection, Williams suggested he is capable of an even higher level of performance.

"I haven't scratched the surface," said the former No. 3 overall draft pick out of Alabama.

The Jets possess serious potential for growth on the other side of the ball, too. With four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers taking the reins at quarterback, Gang Green has earned a lot of attention as a title contender this offseason.

Only five teams have smaller odds to win Super Bowl LVIII on the betting market than the 14-to-1 Jets. Multiple reputable NFL analysts have predicted that the Green & White will end their active 12-year postseason drought in 2023.

"We don't really pay attention to the external things. The external factors don't matter because internal is all we got," said Williams. "[We] focus on each other. Focus on getting better every day. Focus on pushing each other every single day."
