It's naturally a special day for the sport and the acceptance speeches are the highlight of it all.

Darrelle Revis is already thinking about what to say when he goes into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday, August 5.

The former New York Jets' lockdown cornerback will be enshrined as a "Hero of the Game" with seven other members from the Class of 2023, which also features Gang Green legend Joe Klecko.

On June 28, Revis announced that his mother, Diana Askew, will join the seven-time Pro Bowl selection on stage in Canton as his presenter. Revis has repeatedly credited his mother for steering him toward success.

Two days after the official announcement naming Askew to the honorary role, Revis provided a status update on Twitter and Canton was still on his mind.

"been up since 5am. thinking of what to say in my speech come enshrinement week. good day. be well," said Revis in a tweet Friday morning.

Naturally, fans jumped into the "replies" and offered suggestions.

One misguided tweeter told Revis to "Be grateful." Much like he did to top opposing receivers throughout his playing career, Revis shut down the troll by responding with "if you knew me personally you would know I am but you don’t know me personally so chill bro."

A Jets supporter asked Revis to "renounce" the Super Bowl that he won with the New England Patriots during his eighth season as a pro. The former 11-year NFL veteran declined the invitation, saying "never 🤣" in a reply tweet.

Revis spent the first six seasons of his NFL career as a Jet before making one-year stops in Tampa Bay and New England. He returned to Gang Green for a second stint that spanned the 2015 and 2016 seasons. The man widely known as "Revis Island" played his final year in the league the 2017 Kansas City Chiefs

Naturally, Revis has a long list of accomplishments that he could recount during his induction speech.

After twice earning All-Big East Conference First Team honors for the Pitt Panthers, Revis achieved All-Pro First Team status four times during his NFL career. The Jets' 2007 first-round draft pick was the heartbeat of a defense that powered the team to back-to-back AFC Championship Game appearances in 2009 and 2010.

Revis, who made 108 of his 145 career appearances for the Jets, totaled 29 regular season interceptions and three postseason picks during his NFL tenure.

From Aliquippa High School to University of Pittsburgh, Revis has strong western Pennsylvanian roots that he will almost certainly highlight during the enshrinement ceremony.
