Jets Slightly Favored over Raiders Despite Week 9 Results

Point spread suggests evenly-matched Sunday Night Football affair awaits in Las Vegas

The New York Jets have a prime opportunity to bounce back from their disappointing Monday night loss to the Los Angeles Chargers

Hitting the road, the Jets (4-4) opened as a slight favorite over the Las Vegas Raiders  (4-5) in an important Week 10 matchup set for Sunday Night Football on November 12. SI Sportsbook has Gang Green giving 1.5 points to the Silver & Black and interim head coach Antonio Pierce.

It's only the second time this season that the Jets have been favored by the books. The Green & White were a 3.0-point favorite in Week 8 against the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium. They squeaked out a 13-10 overtime win for an "against the spread" push.

The Jets and the Raiders enter their SNF meeting coming off completely opposite Week 9 results.

Watching their three-game win streak come to a screeching halt, the Jets suffered a mistake-filled 27-6 setback at home to the Chargers. The Green & White lost two costly fumbles and allowed a punt return touchdown while its offense never reached the end zone. Quarterback Zach Wilson was sacked eight times and managed only 5.4 yards per pass.

"A lot of inconsistency," said Jets' head coach Robert Saleh the day after the disappointing performance. "Especially from an execution standpoint in penalties, dropped balls. It was just sloppy."

Only days after the head coach and general manager were fired, the Raiders posted a dominant 30-6 home victory over the New York Giants. Replacing the benched Jimmy Garoppolo, rookie quarterback Aidan O'Connell averaged 8.4 yards per pass attempt while posting a 90.2 passer rating in the win.

The Jets haven't had to travel since a Week 5 trip to Denver. Their lone road game over that span was against the Giants in the teams' shared stadium. Regardless of the game's location, the Green & White have struggled to score points this season. The Jets' offense has recorded only eight touchdowns through eight games.

The Jets-Raiders' point total (over/under) stands at 35.5, the lowest of all NFL games on the Week 10 docket. Money line bettors must lay -118 odds to back the Jets while the Raiders offer a +100 potential payout.
