Cowboys Interviewing Another Jets Coach For Defensive Coordinator

After interviewing former New York head coach Rex Ryan for their defensive coordinator position, the Dallas Cowboys will now talk to current Jets' assistant Marquand Manuel.

For some reason, the Dallas Cowboys think their missing link to playoff success will come from ... the New York Jets?

Hours it was reported that former Jets head coach Rex Ryan had interviewed for the Cowboys' vacant defensive coordinator job comes news that owner Jerry Jones and coach Mike McCarthy are also talking to current New York safeties coach Marquand Manuel.

Jets - Marquand Manuel

According to ESPN, Marquand will interview with the Cowboys Thursday at their headquarters in Frisco, Texas.

The Cowboys' candidates to replace Dan Quinn, who left to become the Washington Commanders’ head coach, have largely fit the same profile: Veteran coaches with experience as coordinators. Interviewed so far are former Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer, ex Commanders' head coach Ron Rivera, former Giants' coordinator Wink Martindale and Ryan.

Manuel, 44, has a similar resume, as he was the defensive coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons on Quinn's staff in 2017-18. He has been with the Jets since 2021.

The Cowboys have won twice as many games as the Jets - 36 to 18 - over the last three regular seasons, but only have one playoff victory to show for it.

Whether or past or present, the Cowboys are looking to Gang Green for answers.
