Mom of Jets' Zach Wilson Playing Defense Over 'Affair' Joke

Lisa Wilson engaged in a social media skirmish after the mother of New York Jets' quarterback Zach posted a joke about having an "affair" with her own husband.

Zach Wilson has been given permission to seek a trade and play on an offense away from the New York Jets. The quarterback's mother, meanwhile, spent this week on the defensive.

The same day Jets' general manager Joe Douglas effectively signaled the end of Wilson's time in New York by granting him the freedom to pursue a trade, Wilson's mother, Lisa, got into a spat on social media after joking about having an "affair."

On her Instagram Lisa Wilson shared a video with husband Mike at the gym, joking the two were having an affair.

“I’m having an affair with the hot guy from the gym," Lisa wrote, adding a winking face emoji, "who also happens to be my husband.”

In an ensuring post, Lisa shared a screenshot to her 150,000 followers of a direct message she received from a follower:

“Affairs are nothing to make light of. For real. They’re not funny. They destroy families and children’s lives.”

Lisa, who often took on her son's critics on social media during his troubled time with the Jets, regularly shares advice for women balancing work, marriage and family.

“Um, I don’t think i made fun of it,” Lisa responded to the complaining follower. "We weren’t good. We were tired and disconnected. So I thought why do people have affairs. So I did all the same things to try to bring a spark back. Flirting, sexy texts. And it worked. I’m trying to promote finding that fire with your person.”

Lisa also wrote a note over the screenshot: “I’m not for everyone and that’s ok. I’m just a mom and wife trying to help women live their best life. Sharing things that work for me.”

The Utah native then posted a photo from her and Mike’s wedding in further explaining in her original light-hearted post.

Wrote Lisa, “If you’re new here…. THIS is the hot guy at the gym.. he’s ALSO the father of my 6 children, who I’ve been married to for 27 years next Friday.”

It was Lisa who also famously silenced an Instagram troll who had been criticizing her parenting style.

“OK sometimes we need a sacrificial lamb," Lisa wrote to the hater while sharing his critical post. "Don’t be (bleep). I’m not in the mood. I don’t believe in cyber bullying.”

Surprisingly, Lisa hasn't commented on the Jets' giving up on her son, or last month owner Woody Johnson throwing Zach under the bus.

“We need a backup quarterback,” Johnson said ahead of the NFL Honors in Las Vegas. “We didn’t have one last year.”
