Rookie Jachai Polite reportedly fined over $100K in brief stint as a Jet

The rookie linebacker had some disciplinary issues which contributed to his short stay with the Jets

Rookie linebacker Jachai Polite is off the New York Jets primarily due to a lack of production but it appears he also didn't help his case off the field.

The Jets released the 2019 third-round pick on Saturday and he went unclaimed in waivers before being signed to the Seattle Seahawks' practice squad.

The Jets had no interest in signing Polite to their practice squad, per various reporters.

According to a league source from Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, the Jets fined Polite over $100K for "tardiness and other issues regarding doing things he shouldn’t have done or not doing things he should have been doing."

Polite was given a $1.122 million signing bonus by the Jets from his draft position.

The fines are extremely disappointing for a player the Jets initially considered to be an integral component of their future on defense. Now it's up to Polite to resurrect his career from the ground up in Seattle.

Polite entered the league with maturity concerns and unfortunately this news validates those.
