MMQB Black Friday Game Predictions: All Seven Panelists Back AFC East Leader over Jets

It looks like the New York Jets will remain in the red on this Black Friday.

Set to host the Miami Dolphins (7-3) in a stand-alone AFC East matchup one day after Thanksgiving, the Jets (4-6) received no votes from Sports Illustrated's seven-member prediction panel. In a unanimous declaration, the panelists selected the first-place Dolphins to spoil the holiday season for Gang Green.

Of the 13 games remaining on the NFL's Week 12 slate, the Jets-Dolphins is one of five matchups that yielded consensus picks. The four other completely one-sided predictions were Titans over Panthers; Chiefs over Raiders; Ravens over Chargers; Vikings over Bears.

Reminder, all panel picks are straight up. On the betting line, the Dolphins are 9.5-point road favorites over the Jets according to SI Sportsbook. Money line bettors must lay -500 odds to back the Dolphins while the Jets offer a +370 potential payout.

In Week 6, all seven panelists picked the Eagles over the Jets, but New York managed to hand Philadelphia its lone loss of the season thus far.

The Jets enter Friday's high-stakes division battle riding a three-game losing streak. The Green & White have scored only two total touchdowns over their past four outings. Earlier this week, Jets' head coach Robert Saleh that Tim Boyle will replace Zach Wilson as the team's starting quarterback.

"Just to give him [Boyle] an opportunity, different style of quarterback," said Saleh. "Really, it's just to give him an opportunity to see if we can do something with the offense."

Meanwhile, Miami has plenty to be happy about concerning its starting quarterback. Concussion prone Tua Tagovailoa has managed to stay healthy this season while orchestrating the NFL's top-ranked offense. The Fins average league highs in yards per game (434.0) and yards per play (6.99). Individually, Tagovailoa ranks second amongst league leaders at 8.5 yards per pass.

The Jets' defense limits opponents to 5.64 yards per pass play, the fourth-lowest rate on the circuit. The Green & White split the 2022 season series with Miami, but Tagovailoa was not available to play in either game.

The Jets and the Dolphins will kick off at 3:00 pm ET on November 24 in a Prime Video exclusive. Friday's clash in the Meadowlands will be the first of two head-to-head meetings between these two rivals this year. The Jets will visit Miami on December 17.
