'He's Close': Lions Discussing Options for CB Emmanuel Moseley

Emmanuel Moseley could be close to returning from injury.

The Detroit Lions are discussing how to proceed with veteran cornerback Emmanuel Moseley.

With roster cuts nearly complete, the team is deciding if now is the time to remove the 27-year-old from the PUP list.

"E-man’s doing well," Campbell told reporters this week. "But, he’s somebody we’ll discuss tonight on whether -- do we keep him on PUP or do we take him off? He’s close, but he’s doing well."

While Moseley could be on the team's 53-man roster coming out of camp, his availability for Week 1 against the Kansas City Chiefs remains in doubt.

Moving on from Chase Lucas could be the sign that Detroit's new defensive back is close to competing for playing time, as Jerry Jacobs and Cam Sutton are the expected starters.

Preseason finale impacted final roster decisions

There has been discussion regarding Detroit's starters not playing much at all this preseason.

For Campbell and the coaching staff, the joint practices against two different teams provided the necessary work for starters.

The reserves who were battling for jobs were able to make a case that they should earn a spot on the active roster.

Campbell indicated that the final preseason victory against the Panthers did play a factor for those on the roster bubble.

"I already told you defensively, we had some guys playing positions they’d never played," said Campbell. "We had defensive tackles playing D-ends at the end of that game and just battling. But, we were better, and fundamentally, we were much better. And, you come away, there again, with four turnovers. I mean, that’s encouraging. You’re always going to feel good about that defensively, so it was good. A lot of guys did some really good things.”
